Sonoran Institute: Proposal Brochure

Client: Sonoran Institute
brochure | 25.375” x 11” | 6 panel tri-fold | cmyk

Challenge: The Sonoran Desert Protection Proposal was an ambitious proposal to protect and provide stewardship for a large area of public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The objective was to organize the information in such a way that it would be an easy read, and also reflect the goal of the client.

Solution: Using simple design elements such as color blocks, rounded corner boxes for photos, and earthtone colors, the brochure had an organic feel. The lighting on the cover photo dramatized the landscape of the sonoran desert with a graphic emphasizing protection. On the inside, the study area outlined in red was the area of concern and using the map as the centerfold, became the center of interest. The numbers on the map corresponded to the sections for an easy read. The Sonoran Institute was very pleased and was released to a number of organizations for their review.

Solmonte Hospitality: Identity Package

Client: Solmonte Hospitality
identity package | letterhead | #10 envelope | business card | thank you card | cmyk

Challenge: Solmonte Hospitality, a meeting planning service company approached Krause Creative seeking a new identity for their company. “Solmonte” means sun in Spanish and mountain in Italian. So the goal of creating something unique, rather than the obvious was the key.

Solution: The idea of the art of hospitality came to mind. The client was a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright, he was famous for his organic architecture and stained glass designs. Using a stained glass motif, we came up with a design that was based on a grid of vertical and horizontal lines and used the three primary colors, green yellow and red. After going through a number of versions and simplifying the design, it became a colorful, classy mark that reflected a casual elegance of Solmonte Hospitality.

Tempe Marketplace: Ground Breaking Ceremony Invitation

Client: Vestar Development
invitation | 9.5” x 4.75” | single-fold | cmyk

Challenge: The Tempe Marketplace was preparing for their ground breaking ceremony and the client was seeking an extravagant, yet retro approach that would get people excited and come to the event.

Solution: The idea of using an album like format came to mind because of the entertainment venue and music selection for the event. The supplied renderings were artsy, fun and added to the playfulness. The color palette played well with the logo colors and was appropriate for the genre. The invites were a hit and the ceremony was a success with a great show.
